Namaskar and greetings from three of us!
It is indeed a great pleasure and privilege for us to launch a trust in memory of our beloved parents, late Dr P.Velu and Mrs. Lakshmikantham Velu. The main aim and motto of this trust is to help and serve the sick and needy. Our beloved father, Dr. P. Velu (MD Gen. Med.), the eldest son to A. Palaniswamy Chettiar and Thangamani Ammal was born on 3rd February 1944. Our grandfather, Palaniswamy Chettiar was a very hard working contractor who had built the old aerodrome and other prominent structures and bridges in Coimbatore. Our grandfather wanted to make his eldest son a doctor by profession. So, our father was sent to Madras Medical College (MMC) to pursue his education. Meanwhile, our grandfather had built a small nursing home for his son Velu to practice medicine once he finishes his M.B.B.S. Unfortunately, our grandfather passed away when our father was in his house surgeon stage. Our father had the greatest responsibility of taking care of his five siblings and his single mother. The clinic built by our grandfather was rented to run the family. Our father had the responsibility of marry all his five siblings, so he joined the government services. Initially he was in the anesthesia department and later moved to the radiology department. In the evenings he had a clinic and was doing private practice charging very minimal or even no fees from the patients. Our father tied his wedding knots with our loveable mother on 26th May1972. Our mother known as Rajathi was born in the year 1953 for Mr krishnaswamy Chettiar and Soundammal. She was the 10th in her family out of the 12. Being born in a industrialist and textile merchant family, our mother was brought up very caringly and obediently. She had completed her SSLC and had won awards for hand writing and Tamil skills. Our parents had three children.
